I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a pure new business role for a true hunter. There's some account management involved to get you started. You'll identify and target new customers across key sectors, build a strong pipeline through calls, meetings and networking, and own the full sales cycle from first contact to closing deals across PCBA, kitting and component supply. You'll work closely with internal technical teams to shape solutions and spend plenty of time out on the road meeting customers. PCBA experience is non-negotiable. You'll need a background selling within PCB assembly, contract electronics manufacturing or electronic component distribution, along with a proven track record of winning new logos, building pipelines and closing business. You should be commercially driven, take a solutions-based approach to selling, and be happy travelling regularly across the UK.
