Business Development Manager - Technology & Talent Solutions
Technology Recruitment, Coaching & Consultancy
Leeds City Centre - Hybrid
£50,000-£60,000 basic + realistic £80,000-£100,000 OTE, uncapped
If opening new clients and creating revenue is what you're best at, this could be worth a look.
I'm working with a profitable, founder-led technology recruitment and consultancy business generating more than £5m in annual revenue.
They're looking for a genuine business developer to open new client relationships and create commercial opportunities across technology recruitment, consultancy and leadership/coaching solutions.
You don't necessarily need to come from recruitment.
What matters more is that you've sold a people-led or professional service, know how to create opportunities rather than simply manage existing accounts, and are comfortable getting in front of senior decision-makers.
What you'll be selling
You'll have three established propositions to take to market:
- Technology recruitment
- Consultancy and project-based solutions
- Leadership and coaching programmes
You'll work directly with the founders and have an established delivery team behind you allowing you to concentrate on creating and developing client relationships rather than spending half your week sourcing candidates.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll be doing
- Identifying target organisations and the commercial triggers that create an opportunity
- Researching accounts and developing intelligent routes into them
- Picking up the phone and opening conversations
- Creating meetings with CIOs, CTOs, technology leaders and senior HR/Talent stakeholders
- Understanding client problems and identifying the right solution
- Developing opportunities across recruitment, consultancy and coaching
- Getting out to client meetings, networking and industry events
- Developing existing relationships as well as opening completely new accounts
- Taking opportunities from initial conversation through to commercial agreement
There's plenty of scope to research markets, use data and develop thoughtful campaigns but this is ultimately a hands-on sales role.
The successful person will be someone who takes that research and turns it into conversations, meetings and revenue.
Who could fit?
There are several backgrounds that could work.
You might be:
- A technology recruiter whose strongest skill has always been winning and developing clients
- A recruitment BDM or client development specialist
- Selling technology consultancy, project teams or technology talent solutions
- Working within a technology consultancy or talent solutions business
- Selling HR, talent, leadership, L&D or other people-related professional services

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Your exact background matters less than the evidence behind it.
You'll need to be able to demonstrate that you've personally:
- Created new business rather than simply inherited accounts
- Opened relationships from cold
- Won meetings with senior decision-makers
- Developed opportunities through a proper sales process
- Converted conversations into paying clients
You'll be comfortable using the phone, meeting clients face to face and dealing with the rejection that comes with genuine new-business development.
Why consider it?
- £50-60k basic salary (80-100k OTE)
- Uncapped commission on the business you generate
- Additional bonus opportunity
- Established delivery capability behind you
- Three different propositions to take to market
- Direct access to the founders
- Genuine autonomy over how you develop business
- A small enough business for your contribution to be highly visible
- Scope to influence markets, proposition and commercial approach
- Opportunity to grow into a much broader commercial role as the business develops
If you're good at creating business and would like more freedom over what you can sell and how you sell it, I'd like to speak with you confidentially.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
