Business Development Manager – Scientific Capital Equipment

πŸ“ England – Home Based | UK & Ireland Territory 🌍 Scientific Instrumentation | Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences

Are you an experienced capital equipment sales professional who understands how to develop strategic accounts as well as win new business? Looking to represent a global manufacturer selling technically sophisticated equipment into pharmaceutical and life science customers?

I’m supporting an established global scientific instrumentation manufacturer in the appointment of a Business Development Manager to lead commercial development across the UK & Ireland.

With a turnover of approximately Β£80m, the organisation designs and manufactures specialist scientific equipment used within demanding pharmaceutical and life science applications. This isn't simply a territory sales position. You'll work closely with the Managing Director to shape the commercial strategy for the UK & Ireland – and then take ownership of executing it.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer β€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
