Business Development Manager
Location: Midlands Sector: FMCG - Food & Beverage
We’re working with an established FMCG business to recruit a Business Development Manager to drive sales growth across the Midlands.
This is a hands-on commercial role focused on developing existing accounts, winning new business and increasing the distribution and visibility of a strong portfolio of consumer brands. You’ll manage a diverse customer base across wholesale, cash & carry, independent retail and foodservice, vending, online retailers, manufacturers and gifting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an existing customer portfolio across the Midlands.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities across direct and indirect channels.
- Build strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers and other commercial partners.
- Increase product distribution, visibility and sales across the territory.
- Develop customer and brand plans using a clear Sell-In / Sell-Out approach.
- Conduct customer reviews using sales data and market insight to identify growth opportunities.
- Develop commercial proposals and negotiate supply arrangements.
- Execute promotional campaigns and brand activation plans.
- Identify lapsed accounts, underperforming brands and opportunities for growth.
- Work closely with Customer Services, Commercial, Operations and Telesales teams.
- Manage your territory effectively through structured journey planning and customer prioritisation.
- Help move customers towards digital and online ordering.
- Attend relevant trade shows and industry events to generate new business.

About You
We’re looking for a commercially driven BDM with experience in sales, business development or account management, ideally within FMCG, food, drink or a related consumer environment. You’ll need to be:

- Organised and able to manage a large geographical territory.
