The Opportunity
Are you passionate about driving growth within the renewable energy sector? Do you have the commercial ability to develop relationships across the construction industry—from independent installers and contractors through to local authorities, housing associations, and national housebuilders?
We're working with a leading national distributor of building materials, construction products, and renewable energy solutions. As part of continued investment in their rapidly growing Solar PV division, they're looking to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Manager to develop sales across Southern England.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business that is investing heavily in renewable technologies, giving you the autonomy to develop your territory, grow existing relationships, and win new business within one of the fastest-growing sectors in construction.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for developing sales of Solar PV and associated renewable energy solutions across your territory.

- Developing new business opportunities and growing existing customer relationships.
- Selling Solar PV systems, renewable energy solutions, and associated construction products.
- Working with a Diverse Customer Base Including
- Solar PV installers
- Roofing contractors
- Electrical contractors
- Builders' merchants
- Local Authorities
- Housing Associations
- Property Developers
- Regional and National Housebuilders
- Main Contractors
- Identifying project opportunities from specification through to supply.
- Delivering product presentations and commercial proposals.
- Working closely with internal product specialists and technical teams to deliver outstanding customer support.
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and emerging renewable technologies to maximize sales opportunities.
- Managing your sales pipeline and delivering against agreed revenue targets.
The Person
We're looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, Key Account Manager, or Technical Sales professional who enjoys developing long-term customer relationships and winning new business.
You'll ideally have experience selling one or more of the following:
- Solar PV
- Renewable energy products
- Battery storage
- Electrical products
- Roofing products
- Construction products
- Building materials
- Technical building solutions
Experience selling into any of the following would be advantageous:
- Solar installers
- Roofing contractors
- Electrical contractors
- Builders' merchants
- Developers
- Housebuilders
- Main contractors
- Local Authorities
- Housing Associations

You'll Also Demonstrate
- A proven track record in business development, account management, or technical sales.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- The ability to develop relationships at all levels.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with excellent territory management skills.
- A genuine interest in renewable energy and sustainable construction.
Product knowledge can be taught. Our client is equally interested in candidates with the right attitude, strong commercial ability, and a desire to build a successful career within the renewable energy sector.
