Business Development Manager (Midlands)
Drive Growth in a High-Growth Infrastructure Business
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and commercially focused Business Development Manager to join a leading UK infrastructure and utility solutions provider. This field-based role covers the Midlands region and is ideal for a proven new business professional who thrives on opening doors, developing strategic relationships, and converting opportunities into long-term revenue.
Working within a growing sales team, you will be responsible for developing new relationships with housebuilders, developers, consultants, and other key stakeholders involved in major residential and infrastructure projects.
The Role
You will take ownership of identifying and securing new business opportunities across the Midlands, engaging with customers from initial prospecting through to contract award.

Key responsibilities include:
- Building and executing a targeted new business development strategy across key regional accounts.
- Identifying and engaging decision-makers across technical, commercial, procurement, land, and project teams.
- Developing strong relationships with developers, housebuilders, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Following planning and development activity to identify opportunities early in the project lifecycle.
- Leading the sales process from qualification through proposal, negotiation, and contract award.
- Working closely with internal technical, design, and estimating teams to create compelling customer solutions.
- Presenting proposals, handling objections, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, opportunity pipelines, and forecasts.
- Providing market intelligence and competitor insights to support business growth.

About You
We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated sales professional with a passion for winning new business.
Essential Experience
- Experience working within construction, utilities, infrastructure, engineering, telecoms, building products, or specification sales.
- Demonstrable success generating and winning new business from previously untapped accounts.
- Experience managing complex B2B sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Strong relationship-building, networking, and prospecting skills.
- Ability to understand and discuss technical products, solutions, or services.
- Commercially astute with experience negotiating and closing deals.
- Proven pipeline management and forecasting experience using CRM systems.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Midlands region.
