Start your career properly. Get qualified. Get paid for it.
Most first sales jobs give you a phone, a target and very little else. This one gives you a career.
You will join the retail sales team of a major UK investment manager — a FTSE 250 business with more than £13 billion under management and a record year behind it. Within your first twelve months, they will put you through a professional qualification. You will build a personal development plan with your manager, get full internal training, and work day to day alongside a Senior Business Development Manager whose job is to make you better at yours.
This is a business that promotes from the sales floor. The people running the regional teams today started where you are starting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The Role
- Build and own a network of financial advisers, and grow the money they invest through the company’s products. It is predominantly phone-based, high-activity new business work.
- Prospecting for new opportunities — cold calling, following up marketing leads and working industry events.
- Opening new adviser accounts and growing investment from existing supporters.
- Booking quality meetings for your Senior BDM — phone, video or face to face.
- Delivering genuinely good service to the advisers who back you.
- Keeping Salesforce accurate, and using the data to work smarter rather than just harder.
- Building real product and market knowledge, and keeping up with the regulation behind it.
- Hitting the quarterly and annual objectives your manager sets — and going past them.
What You Get
- A professional qualification, sat within your first 12 months and fully supported.
- Structured internal training and a personal development plan you build with your manager.
- Mentoring from an experienced Senior BDM, every day, not once a quarter.
- Uncapped commission on a £35,000 basic — around £50,000 is realistic in year one.
- A clear route up: Business Development Manager, Senior BDM, and beyond.
- A growing, listed business with a strong balance sheet and a product people actually want to buy.
