About the Role
To lead BPIF Training’s commercial growth activity by creating and developing revenue opportunities across existing customers, new customers, new programmes and new routes to market. The role is focused on organisational growth, commercial planning and employer-level opportunities rather than the operational recruitment, assessment or enrolment of individual learners.
This is not a traditional sales or learner recruitment role. The postholder will help BPIF Training move from a predominantly order-taking approach to a proactive, insight-led commercial model by analysing customer and market data, identifying organisation-level workforce development needs and creating sustainable commercial opportunities.
The role combines business development, account management, CRM governance, commercial intelligence and pipeline management. It is accountable for progressing qualified employer opportunities to an agreed commercial commitment and for completing a structured handover to the appropriate operational team.
What You'll Be Driving
This role will support growth across a range of commercial and strategic priorities, including:
- Revenue growth from apprenticeship, commercial training and workforce development solutions with new and existing customers
- Commercialisation of new products, programmes and services
- CRM development, pipeline management and commercial intelligence
- Expansion into new sectors, markets and routes to market
- Revenue growth and customer retention initiatives
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning insight, relationships and opportunity into measurable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial intelligence, CRM and growth planning
- Own and maintain BPIF Training’s CRM system and qualified opportunity pipeline.
- Ensure each opportunity has a clear value, probability, next action and owner.
- Develop customer segmentation models to support targeted commercial activity.
- Analyse customer, pipeline and revenue data to identify growth opportunities and risks.
- Produce clear commercial reports and insight to support business decision-making.
- Use evidence and data to focus effort where the greatest commercial impact can be achieved.
2. Build and manage the growth pipeline
- Proactively identify and develop new commercial opportunities.
- Manage qualified commercial opportunities from initial engagement to an agreed customer commitment, then complete a structured handover to the relevant operational team.
- Monitor pipeline health, commercial conversion rates, forecast accuracy and revenue performance trends.
- Ensure consistent follow-up, accurate forecasting and timely opportunity progression.
- Understand why opportunities are won, lost or delayed, and implement improvements.
3. Grow existing customer relationships
- Develop a structured, commercially focused account management approach across key customers, with account plans linked to retention, revenue and service growth.
- Identify opportunities to increase share of wallet and broaden customer relationships.
- Support senior relationship owners to develop customer relationships.
- Re-engage dormant customers and restore active commercial relationships.
- Identify wider workforce challenges where BPIF Training can provide effective solutions.
- Monitor customer risk and develop retention strategies where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
