Business Development Manager / Account Manager
🏠 Home-Based Role - covering South Wales, Midlands & South West, with occasional UK-wide travel
💰 Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (Dependent on Experience)

About the Company
Our client is a leading provider of fire safety solutions, helping businesses, organisations, and property owners protect people, assets, and buildings through a comprehensive range of fire safety services and systems.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager / Account Manager with a proven track record within the Fire Safety Systems sector. Experience within Passive Fire Protection would be highly advantageous.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional to join a well-established business, develop existing client relationships, and drive new business growth across South Wales, the Midlands, and the South West.
The Role
Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will play a key role in developing and expanding the company's presence across your region. Working from home, you will be responsible for both account management and new business development, identifying opportunities to promote and sell a wide range of fire safety solutions.
The successful candidate will be confident managing existing accounts whilst proactively seeking and securing new opportunities within commercial, industrial, public sector, and residential markets.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across a range of fire safety services and systems.
- Generate sales opportunities through networking, referrals, prospecting, and market engagement.
- Prepare and present proposals, quotations, tenders, and sales presentations.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximise business growth.

Account Management
- Manage and develop existing customer accounts.
- Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Identify additional revenue opportunities through cross-selling and upselling services.
- Ensure customers receive the highest levels of service and support.
Fire Safety Solutions
- Promote a broad range of fire safety products and services, including:
- Fire Alarm Systems (BS5839 Part 1 & Part 6)
- Emergency Lighting (BS5266)
- Fire Extinguishers
- Suppression Systems
- Service & Maintenance Contracts
- Fire Safety Consultancy
- Passive Fire Protection Solutions
Market Development & Reporting
- Research market trends and identify growth opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activity and industry developments.
- Maintain accurate records and sales activity through CRM systems.
- Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to management.
- Support project handovers and collaborate closely with operational and technical teams.
Essential
- Proven experience within a Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, or Account Manager role within the fire safety industry.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, suppression systems, service contracts, or fire safety consultancy.
- Demonstrable success in generating new business and managing customer relationships.
- Experience managing a sales pipeline and achieving sales targets.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong CRM and Microsoft Office skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a home-based role.

Desirable
- Knowledge or experience of Passive Fire Protection.
- Experience using systems such as SIMPRO or other field service management software.
- Understanding of fire safety compliance, SLAs, KPIs, and industry regulations.
- Existing network of contacts within the fire safety sector.
