Business Development Manager / Area Sales Manager
An opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager / Area Sales Manager to join an independent energy supplier providing LPG and heating oil solutions to domestic, commercial, and agricultural customers delivering reliable service and practical energy solutions.
About the Role
As a Business Development Manager / Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building customer relationships, and increasing sales within an allocated territory. This role offers a competitive salary and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Developing new business opportunities by identifying LPG users across the assigned territory and generating quality sales leads.
- Proactively visiting businesses and properties to identify decision-makers, understand customer requirements, and promote available services.
- Building strong relationships with prospective customers through effective communication and a consultative sales approach.
- Gathering accurate customer information, including fuel requirements, current supplier details, and relevant follow-up information.
- Leaving information packs at suitable properties where contact cannot be made and recording potential opportunities.
- Maintaining accurate records of leads, prospects, and sales activity using internal systems and spreadsheets.
- Following up with potential customers via telephone and email to discuss requirements and convert opportunities into sales.
- Visiting customer locations to complete site surveys, check requirements, and support the sales process through to completion.
- Planning daily routes effectively to maximise time, mileage, and lead generation opportunities.

Essential Requirements
- Previously worked as an Area Sales Manager, Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Account Manager, Field Sales Executive, Field Sales Manager, Territory Sales Manager, Business Development Executive, or in a similar role.
- Experience of identifying and developing new business opportunities through proactive sales activity.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with customers and decision-makers.
- The ability to approach new customers, identify opportunities, and convert leads into sales.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience within the LPG, energy, fuel, or utilities sector.
- Knowledge of commercial prospecting opportunities within the local area.
