About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a strong automotive background and, importantly, previous experience working directly with vehicle manufacturers or OEM organisations.

Why Apply?

  • £45,000 basic salary
  • Uncapped commission with OTE around £70,000
  • Hybrid working
  • Senior-level B2B business development responsibility
  • Opportunity to work with automotive OEM customers
  • Scope to develop both new and existing commercial relationships
  • Opportunity for occasional travel for European events

The Role

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the automotive market
  • Build relationships with prospective OEM and vehicle-manufacturer customers
  • Manage opportunities through the full sales process
  • Develop existing customer accounts and identify further revenue opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations and commercial proposals
  • Negotiate terms and support opportunities through to completion
  • Maintain strong relationships with key commercial and technical stakeholders
  • Gather customer and market feedback to identify future opportunities
  • Work closely with colleagues across different business functions
  • Provide regular commercial and account updates to management
  • Support the development of new services and commercial opportunities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements

The ideal Business Development Manager will have:

  • Proven business development, commercial sales, or account-growth experience
  • Previous experience working directly with automotive OEMs or vehicle manufacturers
  • A strong understanding of how vehicle manufacturers operate commercially and technically
  • A track record of winning new business and developing existing customer accounts
  • Experience building relationships with senior stakeholders in complex B2B environments
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills
  • The confidence to understand and discuss technical or regulated customer requirements
  • Strong commercial awareness and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities
  • The ability to work effectively across different internal teams
  • Flexibility to travel as required
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience

Direct automotive OEM or vehicle-manufacturer experience is essential for this position. Broader technical or regulated-sector experience would be useful, but would not replace the OEM background required.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager who enjoys winning business, developing strategic customer relationships, and working with automotive manufacturers in a commercially focused role.
