Base Salary
£28,000 – £32,500 per annum (dependent on experience)
On-Target Earnings (OTE)
£47,000 – £51,500 in your first year
Commission Structure
The commission scheme is uncapped, with high performing sales staff earning above the OTE figure.
Job Description
Schools Advisory Service (SAS) is the UK’s largest provider of staff absence insurance and wellbeing provision for the Education Sector. For 30 years we have continued to be the market leader in the sector and now work with over 4,000 Schools, Academies and Multi-Academy Trusts.
We are looking for experienced and self-motivated people to join our growing sales team. Our Business Development Managers are responsible for generating new business leads, building quote proposals, and converting leads into sales. By attending educational events across the UK, our team build brand awareness and lasting relationships throughout the education sector.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified leads, ensuring activity and progress remain on track to achieve sales targets.
- Research and identify new business opportunities, prospective clients, and untapped markets within the education sector.
- Prioritise high-impact sales activity, including outbound phone calls, quotation preparation, and new customer meetings.
- Maintain up-to-date sales records, including detailed notes, agreed actions and progress summaries.
- Attend sales meetings, training sessions, and marketing briefings to remain aligned with company priorities and market developments.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers, organisations, and partners across the education sector.
- Use social media, face-to-face and virtual meetings, and formal partnerships to establish and strengthen your professional networks.
- Identify and attend relevant conferences, regional events, and school cluster meetings to generate sales opportunities.

Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven sales experience in new business development (minimum 2 years).
- Strong organisation, prioritisation, and self-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills both in person and over the phone.
- Comfortable presenting to small or large audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a target-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel nationally to attend conferences and events as required.
- Right to work in the UK and a full driving licence.

Desirable:
- Previous experience selling products or services within the education sector.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and a commercial awareness of the education sector.
- Confident using multiple computer software programmes to organise leads and manage sales.
