About the opportunity
Via is partnering with a global B2B payments and technology business serving the travel and hospitality industry to recruit a Business Development Manager for its UK & Ireland sales team.
Despite the original Sales Manager title, this is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. You'll focus on generating new business, developing prospective customers and building a strong pipeline across the UK and Ireland.
You'll be one of the first points of contact for potential customers, using proactive outbound activity alongside inbound marketing leads to identify opportunities and introduce solutions that help hotels and travel businesses manage payments more efficiently.
This is a high-activity, target-driven sales role, so you'll need to be comfortable with outbound calling, prospecting and working towards clear KPIs.
What you'll be doing
- Prospect and engage new B2B customers across the UK and Ireland
- Generate new business through proactive outbound calling and outreach
- Handle a high volume of sales calls and conversations
- Build relationships with decision-makers across the travel and hospitality sector
- Follow up on Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs)
- Qualify prospects and convert MQLs into Sales Qualified Leads (SQLs)
- Understand prospective customers' challenges and introduce relevant solutions
- Deliver clear product information and communicate the commercial value of the platform
- Work towards KPIs including call volume, meetings booked and sales activity
- Develop relationships with prospects through phone, email and virtual meetings
- Work closely with senior sales colleagues to progress qualified leads into opportunities
- Maintain accurate prospect, activity and pipeline information in Salesforce
- Partner with Marketing to improve lead generation and conversion
- Collaborate with Product and Operations teams where required
- Contribute ideas to improve prospecting, lead management and sales processes

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
