Business Development Manager

Term: Permanent and Full Time
Working pattern: Hybrid
Location: United Kingdom, travel required
Salary: £50,000 – £75,000 base (DOE)
Additional benefits: Car allowance, business mileage, and discretionary bonus

Through amphos ICP, we deliver end-to-end electrical infrastructure and grid connection solutions for complex power projects. Operating as an Independent Connection Provider (ICP), our specialist team of electrical engineers, designers, project managers, and commissioning experts manages projects nationwide from our offices in Derby and Dumbarton.

By offering turnkey solutions from initial grid applications through to commissioning and energisation, we support a wide range of sectors including renewables, residential, eMobility, and industrial and commercial markets.

Together, our integrated approach ensures reliable, efficient grid connections and infrastructure delivery, helping drive the UK’s transition to electrification.

Reports To:

Chief Commercial Officer

Role Purpose:

As Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving revenue growth and strengthening client relationships across the UK. You will deliver a professional, customer-focused service to both new and existing clients while supporting the wider Business Development function.

This is a commercially critical position, responsible for generating new opportunities, nurturing long-term partnerships, and increasing the business success rate through effective sales strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed monthly sales, margin, and KPI targets
  • Build, manage, and convert a pipeline of self-generated and warm opportunities, specifically in the Industrial and commercial space.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality proposals within agreed timeframes
  • Follow proposals through to conversion, providing detailed feedback throughout
  • Complete robust win/loss analysis to support continuous improvement
  • Lead tendering activities and manage customer negotiations
  • Develop strong, long-lasting client relationships at all levels
  • Understand customer drivers and translate them into effective solutions
  • Provide accurate market intelligence, reporting, and insights to support BD strategy

Key Requirements:

  • A solid industry knowledge within the EV and Energy sector – Essential
  • Proven experience in Business Development or Sales within an Energy / Utilities or EV infrastructure company
  • Solid understanding of sales and marketing principles
  • Tender management experience, including negotiation and commercial risk mitigation
  • Strong pipeline development and lead generation skills
  • Proven background in ICP/ DNO/ IDNO utilities infrastructure, desirable
  • Experience working in a project-management-focused environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience of working cross-functionally to deliver ambitious targets.
