Business Development Manager Civil Engineering
Location: Southampton, UK
Salary: £55,000 - £62,000 + Package
Experience: Approximately 5-10 years
The Opportunity
Ping International Recruitment is working with a leading international engineering consultancy with an established track record spanning almost 40 years and operations across international markets.
As part of its continued growth strategy, the business is now looking to expand its presence in the UK and is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join its Southampton office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with a Civil Engineering or Infrastructure background to play an important role in developing the company's UK market presence, building client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and developing the company's UK business development strategy, with a particular focus on identifying new opportunities, developing relationships with key clients, and helping establish the consultancy as a recognized name within the UK market.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities across the UK civil engineering and infrastructure sectors.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other key industry stakeholders.
- Developing a strong understanding of market opportunities, competitors, and potential clients.
- Supporting the development and implementation of the company's UK business development strategy.
- Managing the opportunity pipeline and contributing to tender and proposal activities.
- Representing the business at industry events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
- Working closely with technical and operational teams to identify opportunities and develop appropriate solutions for clients.
- Supporting the long-term growth and development of the UK operation.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- Approximately 5-10 years' professional experience within the civil engineering, infrastructure, or engineering consultancy sector.
- A Civil Engineering qualification or technical background is preferred.
- Previous experience in Business Development, Client Development, Account Management, or a commercially focused engineering role.
- A strong understanding of the UK civil engineering and infrastructure market.
- A proven ability to develop and maintain senior client and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and convert business opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach with the confidence to help develop a growing UK operation.

The Opportunity
This is more than a traditional Business Development position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become a key part of the company's UK expansion strategy, working with an established international engineering consultancy while helping to build its client base, reputation, and pipeline within the UK.
The role would suit an ambitious civil engineering professional who is looking to combine their technical industry knowledge with business development and commercial responsibilities and who wants to have a genuine influence on the growth of an established international business in the UK.
Salary: £55,000 - £62,000 + Package
