Business Development Manager – Energy Software & Consultancy | £28,000–£32,000 | United Kingdom (Remote)

Can you build new business relationships from the ground up? Are you ready to sell innovative energy software alongside high-value consultancy services?

The role

Nordic Energy is expanding its commercial team and is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth across the UK public and private sectors, with autonomy, uncapped earning potential and the opportunity to bring an early-stage software solution to market. You will report to the Project Delivery Director, working alongside a director team who continue to lead strategic client relationships.

You will:

  • Build and manage your own target lists and sales pipeline
  • Open new relationships through proactive B2B outreach
  • Sell consultancy projects and annual software licences
  • Manage trials, pricing discussions and subscription conversions
  • Create LinkedIn, email and webinar campaigns
  • Develop referral, channel and technology partnerships
  • Support customers through onboarding and renewal
  • Maintain accurate activity and pipeline information within Zoho CRM
  • Share customer feedback to help shape the software proposition

Its work supports councils, combined authorities, infrastructure providers and private developers. With an established consultancy offering and growing software portfolio, the business is now ready to create a repeatable route to market for its technology.

The benefits

  • £28,000–£32,000 basic salary, depending on experience
  • Realistic first-year OTE of £45,000–£75,000
  • Uncapped commission on both consultancy and software sales, with up to 20% on first-year software licence fees
  • A guaranteed minimum commission arrangement while you build your pipeline
  • Software sales milestone bonuses of up to £12,500
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays

  • Share options may be considered following successful probation

The person

  • 5–8 years’ B2B business development experience within energy, cleantech, infrastructure or built-environment software and services
  • Evidence of creating your own pipeline and converting cold relationships
  • Experience selling both professional services and software subscriptions
  • Experience selling into the UK public sector
  • Strong written communication and hands-on marketing skills
  • Proven track record with managing CRM and efficient client sales management systems
  • The confidence to work autonomously within a small, director-led team
  • The flexibility to travel regularly across the UK

Knowledge of heat networks, net zero policy, grid connections or public procurement routes would be advantageous.
