About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to deliver profitable, sustainable growth across DS Smith’s Construction and Agriculture segments. This is a senior, new-business role suited to a commercial leader with a strong hunter mindset, who can build value-led customer relationships and position DS Smith as the partner of choice for sustainable packaging solutions.

You will play a key role in growing a global, market-leading brand while supporting innovation, sustainability and closed-loop solutions across complex supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of long- and medium-term segment strategies within the UK Speciality Cluster
  • Deliver profitable growth through strategic new business development, supported by strong account playbooks that culminate in successful tenders
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to achieve in-year and future growth targets
  • Act as senior point of contact for target customers, leading pitches, workshops and strategic engagements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, CX, Marketing, Commercial, Supply Chain, Innovation and Design teams to deliver world-class, tailored value propositions
  • Coordinate internal responses to tenders and manage timelines to ensure high-quality submissions
  • Oversee post-award onboarding and ensure smooth handover to Strategic Account teams
  • Monitor performance through KPI reporting and sales forecasting, working closely with the Speciality Supply Chain team
  • Maintain strong understanding of market trends, supply chain dynamics and competitor activity
  • Travel as required to support customer and internal engagement

  • Proven B2B business development leadership experience within Construction, Agriculture or related supply-chain-driven sectors
  • Strong understanding of production, logistics or supply chain environments
  • Demonstrated success delivering sustainable revenue growth through value-based selling
  • Experience operating effectively within a matrix organisation
  • A resilient, credible and influential communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Confident presenter with excellent written and verbal English skills
  • Commercially astute, with experience in forecasting, budgeting and negotiation.
