About the Role

Business Development Manager | Commercial Office, Labs, Industrial & Education Fit-Out

I’m working with a highly respected, forward-thinking interior fit-out specialist headquartered in Birmingham city centre. Turning over just shy of £40m, this market-leading business operates a hugely successful Design & Build division alongside an established traditional contracting arm. Highly regarded across the Midlands and North, they maintain exceptionally strong ties within the agent and landlord communities and deliver high-spec projects up to £2m in the D&B team.

To power their next phase of strategic growth, they are looking for an ambitious, connected Business Development Manager to expand their presence across regional markets. With fantastic flexible working (only requiring 1–2 days in the office per week), this is a premier opportunity for a natural networker who wants to focus on high-margin opportunities, with clear potential to step up and guide a small team of junior researchers/telemarketing specialists.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Proactively generating and qualifying high-margin fit-out and refurbishment opportunities across commercial office, laboratory, industrial, and higher education environments.
  • Leveraging existing networks across commercial property agents, landlords, project managers, and end-users to secure new tender opportunities.
  • Driving business success measured directly on Gross Profit (GP) generation rather than just top-line revenue.
  • Attending initial client discovery meetings, uncovering key project parameters, and smoothly transitioning qualified opportunities to Project Directors at the pitch stage.
  • Developing key regional networks across the Midlands, North, and surrounding growth hubs.
  • Mentoring, guiding, and shaping the prospecting strategy for the internal research and telemarketing team.
  • Representing the business at key commercial property networking events, industry forums, and client engagements.

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you’ll have a strong track record of success in business development within commercial office fit-out (D&B or Traditional), with additional exposure to sectors such as labs, industrial, or higher education considered a major asset. You should bring an established, active contact network across regional landlords, agents, and workplace consultants.

You’ll need to be a self-motivated operator who thrives with autonomy and values a results-driven model focused on GP profit margins. For those with leadership ambitions, this role offers an ideal platform to step up, lead a junior lead-generation team, and help steer regional expansion for one of the top names in the sector.
