Role Overview

The role is to develop the digital and cyber security opportunities for Bilfinger nZero with the National Gas Transmission company, regional gas networks and other non-energy sector opportunities.

Business Development & Sales

  • Achieve the profitability targets of the digital solutions department in-line with Annual Plan.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained enabling repeat business.
  • Ensure margin and cash flow expectations are in-line with group parameters.
  • Work closely with sales and engineering teams to align efforts and goals.
  • Ensure quotations and order handling follow the published departmental procedures, with quarterly reviews.
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end sales process for digital solutions, including business development, quotations, and closure.
  • Develop and maintain strategic business partnerships to drive global sales of digital and technology-based solutions.
  • Identify and evaluate market opportunities to expand the company’s digital portfolio.
  • Provide guidance and training to business partners and internal sales staff on digital products and market positioning.
  • Gather market intelligence, client requirements, and insights from global conferences to influence product development and R&D strategies.

Bid Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage bid opportunities for digital services and solutions using Salesforce.
  • Lead the preparation, submission, and follow-up of bids and proposals, ensuring compliance and competitive positioning.
  • Maintain a database of bid performance and continuously refine proposal strategies.

Customer Engagement & Market Intelligence

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Gather and analyse customer feedback to enhance digital solutions and service offerings.
  • Develop and contribute to user-centric strategies for digital product development and market expansion.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to identify new business opportunities.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Work in accordance with the company’s processes and procedures and ensure compliance these.
  • Support internal and external audits to maintain high standards in digital operations and business processes.
  • Promote best practices in quality, security, and compliance across digital initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • HNC or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of digital business models and technology-driven sales strategies.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or leadership within a technology-focused division.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyse market trends, develop strategic insights, and drive business growth.
  • Experience in bid and project management.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools.
  • Willingness to travel for international conferences, client meetings, and business development opportunities.

Desirable Skills

  • Ability to identify and pursue emerging business opportunities beyond the existing portfolio.
  • Expertise in conducting in-depth market research and competitor analysis.
  • Experience in developing and implementing digital strategies to drive transformation and growth.
  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to enhance digital capabilities.
