The NEC Group and be part of something extraordinary!

Business Development Manager

The NEC Group is looking for talented and passionate individuals to join our dynamic team. Our mission is to create unforgettable experiences through world-class events and services.

We have a fantastic opening for a Business Development Manager to join our Conventions team in New Business Sales.

You’ll be working across our two convention centres, at the ICC in Birmingham City Centre, the Vox on the NEC Campus in Solihull and the NEC itself. These venues provide conference and meeting space for up to 8,000 delegates, welcoming over 350,000 delegates every year! And you’ll be part of a first-class team that is renowned for delivering incredible events.

About The Role

This role is all about growing new business across some of the UK’s most exciting event venues. You’ll work across a blend of inbound enquiries and your own sales pipeline, with a real focus on proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. You’ll convert great opportunities that come to us, while also getting out there and finding the next one.

You’ll build relationships with agencies, organisers and corporate clients, generate new business and take opportunities from first conversation through to a successful sale. With the ICC Birmingham, The Vox and the NEC in your portfolio, you’ll be selling a fantastic range of spaces and experiences, with plenty of scope to make the role your own and have a real impact on our growth.

Day to day you will:

  • Proactively prospect for new business, while balancing this with converting inbound enquiries and building a strong, qualified pipeline.
  • Build relationships with new clients and agencies, creating opportunities and turning them into confirmed events.
  • Own the sales journey from first conversation through to negotiation and conversion, working closely with the wider team to deliver the right solution for each client.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
