Job Description

Business Development Managers - Consultus Talent Pool

Location: Hybrid - Leicester

Salary & Commission: Competitive base + uncapped commission (OTE 2.5x base)

At Consultus, we're always interested in hearing from experienced business development professionals who understand the energy and sustainability market. While we're not actively recruiting for this role today, we're building a talent pool of experienced Business Development Managers who'd like to be considered for future opportunities as our commercial teams evolve.

If you enjoy winning new business, building lasting client relationships and seeing a deal through from first conversation to signed contract, we'd love to hear from you.

We help organisations make informed energy decisions. Our clients include large commercial organisations across a range of sectors, all looking to reduce costs, improve resilience and meet increasingly ambitious sustainability goals. You'll be introducing them to solutions that make a real difference, backed by over 30 years of expertise and a team of specialists who are there to support you throughout the sales process.

What Future Opportunities Could Involve

You'll be identifying and engaging prospective clients, building relationships with key decision-makers and uncovering opportunities where Consultus can add value.

From your first conversation through to proposal, negotiation and close, you'll take ownership of the sales process, working closely with our technical consultants to develop solutions that meet each client's needs. Once a client comes on board, you'll ensure a smooth handover while continuing to build long-term relationships that create future opportunities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Be Selling

One of the biggest advantages of this role is the breadth of solutions you'll be able to offer your clients. Rather than focusing on a single service, you'll be supporting organisations with everything from energy procurement and compliance through to Net Zero strategy, renewable technologies and long-term energy management solutions. It means you can build deeper relationships, uncover opportunities across different areas of a client's business and become a trusted adviser rather than simply selling a product.

You'll have the opportunity to introduce clients to services including:

Sustainability and Net Zero Consulting:

  • Net Zero Pathways (Scopes 1, 2 & 3)
  • ESOS, SECR and other compliance reporting
  • Virtual Energy Management
  • Cultural and behavioural change programmes

Technology and Implementation:

  • Solar PV, Wind and Battery Storage
  • EV Charging Infrastructure
  • LED Lighting and Low Carbon Heating Solutions

Energy Procurement:

  • Electricity, Gas and Water contracts
  • Risk management strategies
  • Bureau and bill validation services
  • Metering and PPA support

This breadth of services means you won't be trying to fit every client into the same solution. Instead, you'll work consultatively to understand their objectives and recommend the right approach.
