Business Development Manager – Fire
Location: East Midlands / Bedfordshire / Buckinghamshire / Hertfordshire
Salary: £60,000–£65,000 basic + circa £15,000 commission
Benefits: Car allowance + competitive benefits package

The Opportunity
We are working with an established fire safety manufacturer that is looking to appoint an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to develop new business and grow existing distributor relationships.
This is a hands-on, field-based sales role suited to a go-getter with strong technical understanding who enjoys developing relationships, identifying opportunities and converting them into profitable business.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for developing a defined territory, with a particular focus on distribution accounts and growing sales of the company's fire safety product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships with distributors, installers and other key customers.
- Identify, qualify and convert new business opportunities within the territory.
- Increase sales through existing accounts by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Work closely with distributors to ensure they are confident selling and supporting the product range.
- Get in front of end users and influencers where appropriate, while working with distribution partners to secure orders.
- Provide product demonstrations, technical presentations and customer training.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial offers, working with internal teams to support the sales process.
- Build and maintain an accurate sales pipeline and achieve agreed revenue targets.
- Help shorten the sales cycle by proactively managing opportunities through to order.
- Maintain regular contact with key accounts and identify opportunities for account development.
- Attend customer meetings, industry events and relevant exhibitions.
- Work collaboratively with internal technical, marketing and customer service teams.

We're looking for someone who is:
- A proven Business Development Manager / Sales Manager with experience in a technical or product-led environment.
- Commercially driven, proactive and comfortable generating new opportunities.
- Confident dealing with distributors and developing long-term channel relationships.
- Technically curious, with the ability to understand and communicate product benefits.
- Comfortable presenting products and delivering customer demonstrations or training.
- Target-focused and motivated by achieving and exceeding sales objectives.
- Organised and capable of managing a territory and multiple opportunities effectively.
- A strong communicator who can build credibility with customers at different levels.
- Willing to travel regularly throughout the territory.
