Business Development Manager – Fish and Seafood Distributor
Location: Office based 1 day per week in Downton, Salisbury, with 4 days on the road across the South Coast territory, covering Southampton to Brighton and the New Forest to Bridport.
Remuneration Package: OTE £45,000+ plus car allowance
We are supporting a highly regarded and long-established business within the fish and seafood sector in the search for a Business Development Manager. This is a rare opportunity to join a respected operator with a strong reputation.
The role
This is primarily an on-the-road position, involving regular travel to meet customers and develop new commercial relationships. You will spend one day per week in the office, with the remaining four days focused on visiting customers.

You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of the business. This is a hands-on commercial role requiring confidence and the ability to represent a premium brand with professionalism.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Work closely with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions for customers.
- Promote the business’s full product range, including fresh fish, frozen seafood, and bespoke preparation services.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of market trends and competitor offerings to inform business strategies.
- Network to engage with stakeholders across the industry.

About you
- Strong knowledge of fish and seafood is highly desirable.
- Sales experience is welcome, but not essential.
- Background as an ex-chef, seafood specialist, or within food/hospitality would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive, professional approach.
- Confident working both independently and collaboratively.
