Job Description

Position: Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding

Industry: Shipping & Logistics

Location: Wembley Hill Road, Wembley, Middlesex, HA9 8BU, United Kingdom

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding to join our shipping and logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, expanding customer relationships, through freight forwarding, shipping, and logistics solutions.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of international freight operations, excellent sales skills, and a proven track record in acquiring and managing clients within the logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in freight forwarding, shipping, and logistics services.
  • Generate leads, approach potential clients, and convert prospects into long-term customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Promote air freight, sea freight, road freight, customs clearance, and supply chain solutions.
  • Understand customer requirements and provide customized logistics solutions.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate contracts, and close business deals.
  • Achieve monthly and annual sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Conduct market research to identify industry trends and competitor activities.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure smooth customer service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and business forecasts.
  • Attend industry events, networking meetings, and client visits to generate business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, or similar role within freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of international freight forwarding operations.
  • Established network of clients and contacts within the logistics industry is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify sales opportunities and build long-term client relationships.
  • Self-motivated, target-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Good knowledge of UK and international logistics markets.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience handling B2B sales in freight forwarding or supply chain solutions.
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures, customs regulations, and international trade.
  • Experience managing key accounts and large-volume shipments.
