Business Development Manager – Manufacturing
Location: Dudley
Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
Are you an experienced Business Development Manager who enjoys building strong customer relationships, solving problems, and finding opportunities to grow existing business?
Our well-established manufacturing client is looking for a Business Development Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of existing customers, acting as their key point of contact while developing long-term, commercially successful relationships.
About the Role
This is a varied role combining relationship management, commercial responsibility, and account growth. You'll work closely with customers to understand their requirements, provide practical manufacturing solutions, and identify opportunities to increase revenue through cross-selling and upselling.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a portfolio of existing customer accounts
- Build strong relationships and gain a thorough understanding of customer requirements, projects, and future demand
- Identify opportunities to grow accounts through cross-selling, upselling, and new opportunities within the existing customer base
- Prepare quotations, pricing proposals, and commercial agreements, including negotiating where required
- Conduct regular customer reviews and take ownership of queries, challenges, and commercial issues
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Quality, Project Management, and Finance to deliver commercially viable customer solutions
- Forecast customer demand, monitor trends, and identify opportunities for account and market growth
- Support new projects, product introductions, and customer launches

What We're Looking For
- Previous Account Management, Sales, or Client Relationship experience within manufacturing
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence discussing pricing and commercial agreements
- A natural relationship builder who can develop credibility with customers
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to find practical solutions
- Organised and able to manage multiple customer accounts and priorities
- Confident working autonomously while collaborating effectively with internal teams
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
This is predominantly an office-based position, although there may be scope for some hybrid working as the role develops.
Travel to customer sites and industry events will be required, therefore a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
