Job Description
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in supporting employers across care sectors to develop a skilled, confident, and qualified workforce through apprenticeship programmes.
Working closely with care settings, you will identify workforce development needs, build long-term employer partnerships, and promote apprenticeship pathways that support staff development, retention, and progression.
As a trusted adviser to employers, you will help organisations address skills gaps, improve quality of care, and create sustainable career development pathways, whilst driving business growth and expanding Wales England Care Ltd's employer network.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Identify, target, and secure new employer partnerships across a range of care settings
- Achieve and exceed sales and business development targets, contributing to the growth of apprenticeship opportunities within the care sector.
- Undertake the end-to-end apprenticeship enrolment process, ensuring compliance with funding regulations and sector requirements.
- Develop and deliver engaging presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective care employers, highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships for workforce development.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with care providers, employers, local authorities, stakeholders, and training partners to support sustainable apprenticeship delivery.
- Act as the main point of contact for new and existing clients, providing expert guidance on apprenticeship programmes, funding options, workforce planning, and sector-specific training solutions.
- Monitor and report on progress against sales targets, BD activity, pipeline performance, and conversion.
- Support the promotion of apprenticeship programmes through sector events, job fairs, networking opportunities, employer engagement activities, and digital marketing channels.
- Represent the organisation at care sector forums, industry events, conferences, provider networks, and employer engagement opportunities, acting as an ambassador for the organisation and its apprenticeship provision.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the apprenticeship landscape, funding rules, adult social care policy, workforce challenges, safeguarding requirements, and sector developments.
- Communicate effectively and professionally across the organisation at all levels, ensuring a high standard of customer service for employers, learners, and stakeholders.
- Work closely with operational and curriculum teams to support learner recruitment, progression, achievement, and positive outcomes for care sector employers and apprentices.

Qualifications & Experience - Essential

- Level 2 (GCSE grade A–C / 4–9) or equivalent in English and maths.
- Experience working in an education, training, or apprenticeship environment.
- Experience liaising with employers and external partners, ideally within the care sector.
- UK driving license and access to a car for work.
- Proven experience in business development/sales/account management within apprenticeships.
- Experience selling apprenticeship programmes at Levels 2–5.
- Experience of maintaining accurate records.
- Competent use of IT systems including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
