Business Development Manager
Manchester | Competitive Basic + £5,400 Car Allowance + Uncapped Commission
Are you a proven new business salesperson who enjoys building your own pipeline, winning new clients, and taking ownership of the full sales process?
We’re working with a rapidly growing, international professional services business that is looking to strengthen its Manchester sales team with ambitious Business Development Managers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with ~18 months of genuine closing/360 experience who wants a role with strong earning potential, structured training, and a clear route into senior sales positions.
The Opportunity
This is a 360 business development role.
You won’t simply be handed a pipeline of warm leads. Around 80% of your opportunities will be self-generated, so you'll be responsible for identifying prospects, building relationships, running meetings, and ultimately closing new business.
You'll be selling a consultative B2B service to businesses across the UK and Ireland, working with senior decision-makers and helping them identify opportunities around innovation, R&D, and government incentives.
The sales environment is fast-paced, with relatively short sales cycles and a strong focus on activity, pipeline generation, and results.
What you'll be doing
- Build and manage your own pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Identify and prospect potential clients through outbound activity and targeted research.
- Cold call and engage senior decision-makers, including C-suite stakeholders.
- Run discovery and sales meetings to understand client requirements.
- Present and communicate the value of the company's services clearly and confidently.
- Manage opportunities through the full sales cycle, from initial prospecting through to close.
- Negotiate and close new business.
- Maintain accurate records and manage your pipeline through Salesforce.
- Work closely with internal consulting, technical, and delivery teams following the sale.
- Maintain ownership of the client relationship through the handover process, ensuring momentum is maintained.
- Consistently work towards monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.
- Develop your knowledge of different industries and identify new opportunities within the market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
