Business Development Manager – Healthcare Recruitment & Staffing

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland
Salary: £55,000 plus commission
Job type: Full-time, permanent

Jane Lewis Healthcare Recruitment is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth across Scotland.

This is a senior commercial role focused on generating new business, developing lasting client relationships and increasing our presence within the healthcare staffing market. You’ll work closely with healthcare providers across the region, taking the time to understand their staffing challenges and providing responsive, reliable workforce solutions.

What you’ll be doing

As our Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Identifying and securing new business opportunities across Scotland
  • Building a strong pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals and lead generation
  • Contacting healthcare providers and arranging face-to-face client meetings
  • Developing relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders
  • Understanding each client’s staffing requirements and presenting suitable workforce solutions
  • Managing the business development process from initial contact through to agreement and mobilisation
  • Growing existing accounts by identifying further opportunities to support clients
  • Working closely with recruitment and operational colleagues to ensure new clients receive an excellent service
  • Monitoring local market activity, competitor performance and emerging opportunities
  • Maintaining accurate records of leads, meetings, opportunities and commercial activity
  • Working towards agreed sales targets and KPIs
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Jane Lewis, representing our values and standards with colleagues, clients and healthcare professionals.

What we’re looking for

To be considered for this Business Development Manager position, you’ll need:

  • At least three years’ experience within a recruitment agency environment, ideally within healthcare, social care, nursing or a related staffing sector
  • A minimum of 2 years’ proven people management experience, with a track record of leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • A proven track record of winning new business and delivering against commercial targets
  • Experience managing the complete business development or recruitment sales process
  • The ability to build credible relationships with senior decision-makers
  • A commercially minded approach, with the confidence to identify opportunities and turn them into measurable results.
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate people and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain an effective sales pipeline
  • A data-driven mindset, with the ability to use performance metrics and insight to improve results.
  • Resilience, energy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven recruitment environment.
