The Role Outline: Your Week at a Glance
As a National Business Development Manager, you are the commercial hunter for our brand & work within a highly successful Central Sales Team. Based anywhere in the UK with regular travel, you will take total ownership of identifying, targeting, and converting brand new direct business.
With our portfolio soon to be 36 hotels (including our massive new Sheffield opening!), you will focus relentlessly on driving accommodation, group and meeting revenue, seeking out white space opportunities, and building fantastic corporate relationships to help us smash our commercial targets.
Why Village?
At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating lively spaces for our guests to work, eat, relax, and play.
We are looking for a highly motivated, high EQ sales professional who absolutely loves the thrill of the chase. If you are naturally competitive but completely team focused, and you love nothing more than ringing the bell and celebrating successes with your colleagues, we will give you the autonomy and the platform to completely own your market. Because it really does take a Village.
How the Village Thrives
We live our culture through three simple commitments:
- We Can & We Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work every day, with purpose.
- We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best and look out for each other.
- We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your Remit: What You Will Actually Be Doing
We do not just need a transactional seller; we need a proactive revenue driver who connects with people on a human level. We trust you to handle:
- The Hunt: Generating new business. You will proactively seek out and identify new direct business opportunities, targeting specific industry sectors and driving crucial Thursday to Sunday night volume across our 35 locations.
- The Relationships: You will meet with corporate clients face to face, write highly engaging proposals and develop long lasting corporate partnerships for the brand.
- The Team Energy: Winning together. You will work closely with our Central Meetings, Groups and Business Desks, communicating brilliantly and ensuring that when you win a big account, the whole team gets to celebrate the success.
- The Commercial Strategy: Maximising the spend. You will work within our defined commercial rate strategy, cross selling all non bedroom areas of the hotels, and managing your portfolio brilliantly before handing them over to a dedicated Account Manager.
How We Succeed Together
We do not micromanage. It takes a village, so we believe in Ownership & Integrity, giving you the autonomy to manage your diary, travel the UK, and hunt down the best business. We Empower & Elevate our people. If you want Room to Grow, we provide a brilliantly supportive, high energy sales culture where your commercial impact is recognised and celebrated loudly.
