About the Company

Planet Platforms Ltd is a leading UK manufacturer of bespoke access platforms, gantries, walkways and work-at-height safety solutions. We design, manufacture and install innovative access equipment that enables our customers to work safely and efficiently across sectors including Rail, Aviation, Defence, Industrial Manufacturing, Construction and Utilities.

About the Role

The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable revenue growth by identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across key target sectors. Working closely with the General Manager and wider sales and engineering teams, the role will focus on building long-term customer relationships, increasing market share, and positioning Planet Platforms as the preferred supplier of bespoke access and work-at-height solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across target sectors.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Generate and manage a healthy sales pipeline to achieve agreed revenue targets.
  • Work with engineering and operational teams to develop bespoke solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations and presentations.
  • Represent Planet Platforms at customer meetings, industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular sales forecasts and activity reports.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Business Development or Technical Sales role.
  • Demonstrable track record of winning new business and achieving sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercially aware with a proactive and results-driven approach.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Required Skills

  • Experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction, access solutions or work-at-height safety industries.
  • Experience selling bespoke or technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of Rail, Aviation, Defence, Utilities or Industrial sectors.
  • Experience using CRM systems.
