Hybrid working
Are you a genuine new business salesperson who enjoys building opportunities rather than simply managing an existing book of accounts?
We are working with an established and growing technology business looking for a Business Development Manager to play an important part in its continued growth.
This is a proper new business role. You will be responsible for identifying target organisations, opening doors, developing your own pipeline and taking opportunities from the first conversation through to signed commercial agreements.
The sales are consultative and can involve multiple stakeholders, so this would suit someone who enjoys getting underneath a prospect’s challenges, building credibility with senior decision makers and navigating more complex, longer sales cycles.
What will you be doing?
You will take ownership of the full new business sales process, with plenty of autonomy over how you develop your market.
Your role will include:
- Proactively identifying and developing new business opportunities
- Building and managing your own healthy sales pipeline
- Winning larger, complex and enterprise level customers
- Engaging confidently with senior and executive level stakeholders
- Understanding each prospect’s requirements and adapting your approach accordingly
- Presenting and negotiating commercial proposals through to close
- Using market intelligence and prospect data to focus your activity on the best opportunities
- Using CRM, AI and modern sales enablement tools to improve prospecting and sales performance
- Developing opportunities through multiple channels, including networking and relevant industry events
- Managing several live enterprise opportunities without allowing momentum to drop

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The business is particularly interested in someone who takes real ownership of their number. Success is measured through sales performance, win rate, the quality and speed of pipeline generation and accurate forecasting, rather than simply the volume of activity completed.
What are they looking for?
This is likely to suit an experienced B2B salesperson with a demonstrable record of winning new customers and closing meaningful commercial deals.
Ideally, you will bring experience from SaaS, HR technology or a related technology led environment, particularly where you have sold solutions involving areas such as compliance, security, APIs or integrations.

You should be comfortable selling into larger organisations, presenting to senior decision makers and handling commercial negotiations. Experience using AI or sales enablement technology as part of your sales process is important too. They are looking for someone curious about how technology and data can make them a better salesperson, rather than someone who relies purely on traditional prospecting methods. Experience within background screening would certainly be useful, but it is not essential.
About the business
- Ambitious growth plans and continued investment
- Established business with an impressive customer base
- Modern, technology led environment embracing AI
- Strong training and career development
- People focused, collaborative culture
- Autonomy and ownership of your market
- Exposure to large enterprise customers and senior decision makers
If you are an experienced new business salesperson who enjoys the challenge of building pipeline, developing enterprise relationships and closing complex B2B technology deals, this could be a very lucrative next move.
