Business Development Manager – Intermediaries
Location: Peterborough / Hybrid
Department: Business Development / Commercial
Contract type: Permanent / Full-time
About the role
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager – Intermediaries to join our Commercial team and own the growth agenda across the UK leasing sector, while also driving development across adjacent intermediary channels including brokers, commercial insurers, and TPAs.
This role is responsible for delivering sustained, high-quality volume by nurturing, optimising and expanding relationships with key work providers. Leasing will form the core focus, with accountability for growing established partnerships and developing new routes to market, while leveraging wider intermediary relationships to support diversified and scalable growth.
As the commercial lead for these channels, you will ensure that sopp+sopp delivers a best-in-class proposition across all intermediary channels. Success will depend on your ability to build long-term, commercially valuable partnerships, align service delivery to partner expectations, and drive consistent performance through a disciplined and insight-led approach.
This is a high-impact role requiring strong relationship leadership, commercial expertise, and execution discipline, with clear accountability for sustainable growth across intermediary portfolios.
The role carries genuine scope to grow. For an ambitious, high-performing individual it offers a clear route to broader channel ownership and senior commercial leadership as the intermediary portfolio scales.
Activate Group is a growing UK business with 1,000+ team members nationwide. This is an exciting opportunity to build a long-term career with a company that values its people and offers genuine development and progression opportunities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
