About the Company
An established technology and communications business is looking for a driven Business Development Manager to join its sales team.
About the Role
This is a genuine new-business role, suited to a proactive sales professional who enjoys prospecting, building relationships and taking opportunities from initial contact through to close.
Responsibilities
- Generate new business through outbound calling, email campaigns, networking, referrals, events and targeted prospecting.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective customers.
- Identify decision-makers and develop relationships with business owners, directors, operations teams and IT stakeholders.
- Manage the complete sales process from initial engagement and discovery through to proposal, negotiation and contract completion.
- Understand customer challenges and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, flexibility and value.
- Work alongside technical and delivery teams to develop appropriate customer solutions.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals and commercial business cases.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts to secure profitable new business.
- Develop account and territory plans to maximise sales opportunities.
- Keep CRM records, pipeline information and forecasts accurate and up to date.
- Monitor market developments, competitor activity and changes within the communications and technology sector.
- Consistently achieve agreed new-business and revenue targets.

Qualifications
You will ideally have at least 2 years' B2B new-business sales experience, preferably gained within telecoms, IT, connectivity, unified communications, mobile or another technology-led environment.
Required Skills
- A confident and motivated sales professional with a strong new-business focus.
- Experienced in prospecting, pipeline development and closing deals.
- Comfortable selling to customers and engaging senior decision-makers.
- Commercially aware with the ability to understand and communicate customer needs.
- A strong communicator and negotiator with excellent presentation skills.
- Persistent, organised and able to manage your own workload and sales activity.
- Comfortable working towards challenging targets and KPIs.
- Able to understand technology solutions and translate technical features into clear commercial benefits.
- Collaborative, working effectively with technical, operational and customer delivery teams.
- Resilient and driven, with the confidence to handle objections and progress opportunities.
- Keen to develop your product knowledge and stay informed about market trends.

Pay range and compensation package
£30,000–£45,000 basic salary, depending on experience. Uncapped/competitive commission structure. 22 days' annual leave plus your birthday, increasing to 25 days after two years.
