Based in Wedmore, Somerset, Valantus is a specialist consultancy providing security, vetting, cyber compliance and assurance services to clients across the defence, construction, justice and commercial sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to help expand our client base and drive revenue growth across our cyber, compliance and vetting services.
This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing sales professional with experience selling into construction, infrastructure or defence supply chains. You'll play a key role in helping organisations meet increasingly important cyber security and compliance requirements while contributing directly to the continued success of our business.
As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities
- Building long-term client relationships
- Increasing Valantus' presence across the defence, construction and public sectors

You will engage with senior decision-makers, manage the full sales cycle and promote a range of specialist services including:
- Cyber Essentials & Cyber Essentials Plus
- Defence Cyber Certification (DCC)
- ISO 27001 & ISO 9001
- BPSS and Security Vetting Services
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business opportunities across construction, defence and public sector supply chains.
- Build relationships with Directors, Operations Managers, IT Managers, Commercial Managers and Compliance Leads.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract award.
- Conduct client meetings, presentations and online demonstrations.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and consistently achieve revenue targets.
- Work closely with delivery teams to ensure excellent customer outcomes.
- Develop strategic partnerships within the defence and construction sectors.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and contribute to business growth strategies.
Essential skills and experience
- Ideally a minimum 3 years' B2B sales experience.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience selling services into construction, infrastructure or defence markets.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- UK Driving licence

Desirable
- Experience selling cyber security or compliance services.
- Knowledge of Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus or Defence Cyber Certification (DCC).
- Familiarity with ISO certification services.
- Experience within security screening, BPSS or vetting services.
- Understanding of MOD, DIO or wider government supply chains.
About You
You're a results-driven business developer who understands the challenges facing construction and defence suppliers. You know how to open doors, build relationships and convert opportunities into long-term contracts.
You can confidently discuss cyber security, compliance and assurance requirements with stakeholders at every level, from operational teams through to board-level decision-makers.
Security Requirements
- Eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS clearance.
- Able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
