Business Development Manager
Yorkshire | Hybrid
CY Partners are partnering with a growing specialist MedTech business to recruit a Business Development Manager. This is a great opportunity to take the lead on developing new business and building relationships with organisations ranging from innovative start-ups to major global companies.
This isn't about selling a product. You'll be developing opportunities across a range of specialist consultancy, technical and development services, helping MedTech companies bring new technologies to market and support existing products.
You'll work closely with customers to understand what they're trying to achieve, identify where the business can add value and bring together the right regulatory, quality, clinical and technical expertise to support them.
We're open-minded about where you've gained your experience. You might already be working in business development or sales within Life Sciences, MedTech or scientific consultancy and be looking for an opportunity with more ownership and a genuinely consultative approach.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Alternatively, you could come from a scientific, technical, regulatory, quality or clinical background and be looking to move into a more commercially focused career. If that's you, you'll need strong customer-facing experience, confidence building external relationships and ideally some exposure to conferences, exhibitions or industry events.
What will you be doing?
- You'll take ownership of identifying and developing new business opportunities, building relationships from initial contact through to becoming established customers.
- Build and manage your own pipeline of prospective clients.
- Develop relationships with key decision-makers across the MedTech industry.
- Represent the business at major industry conferences and exhibitions.
- Work closely with marketing on targeted campaigns and lead generation.
- Support new customers through onboarding and help develop longer-term relationships.
- Work alongside an established commercial and technical team to turn opportunities into new business.

Who are we looking for?
We're more interested in finding someone with the right combination of industry knowledge, commercial instinct and personality than someone who ticks every box.
You'll need to be confident speaking with customers, naturally inquisitive, proactive and comfortable developing relationships.
Previous sales experience would be valuable, but isn't essential. If you've built strong Life Sciences or MedTech knowledge in a customer-facing role and think your strengths could translate into business development, we'd be very interested in speaking with you.
The role will be hybrid and Yorkshire based, with travel to customers and industry events across the UK and internationally.
For someone looking to build their career on the commercial side of Life Sciences, this is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage of growth and make the role your own.
