Job Title: Business Development Manager
Salary: £Competitive salary + generous commission and bonus scheme
Location: Hybrid (London Based with flexibility)
Are you ready to make a real impact in renewable energy? PPAYA is the platform connecting energy buyers with renewable generators, and we are looking for a Business Development superstar to accelerate our growth. We aim to become the hub of the renewable energy economy, empowering participants across renewable power markets to auction, negotiate, and trade - all-in-one place.
We’re hiring a commercially sharp, relationship-led Business Development Manager to join PPAYA at a pivotal growth stage. This is a hands-on sales role for someone who loves being in the market, opening doors, building trust, and consistently winning new business. This is a front-line role in expanding PPAYA’s footprint across the UK renewables market. You’ll own new business, grow long-term partnerships, and work closely with internal teams (including marketing) to strengthen our market position and unlock revenue.
The Business Development Manager will drive PPAYA’s growth across the UK renewables market by building pipeline, converting opportunities, and delivering commercial results. You’ll shape and execute sales strategy, whilst partnering with marketing and wider business functions to increase revenue and visibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive new business across the UK renewables sector
- Build, grow, and retain strong client relationships
- Lead commercial conversations from first meeting to closing the deal
- Create and deliver sales plans aligned to business goals
- Spot, qualify, and convert new opportunities in energy and renewables
- Structure and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), including CPPAs + Financial PPAs
- Work with marketing to boost lead generation and brand presence
- Represent PPAYA at meetings, exhibitions, conferences, and industry forums
- Track market trends and emerging opportunities
- Deliver accurate forecasting, reporting, and performance insights
- Support pricing strategy and sharpen commercial propositions
- Maintain a strong pipeline and keep CRM data accurate and up-to-date

Personal skills and experience
- Self-starter with motivation, resilience, and a target-first mindset
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills and a consultative sales approach
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building ability
- Collaborative team player who raises the bar and adds energy to the culture
- Extensive experience in energy or renewables (utilities, consultancy, or similar)
- Proven record of accomplishment in sales, business development, and deal delivery
- Strong knowledge of PPAs; CPPA and CfD experience is a plus
- Commercially astute, with confidence using data, forecasts, and performance metrics
- Strategic thinker who can spot opportunities and move fast to secure them
- Problem solver that relishes sourcing the best solution for the client

The ideal candidate
- Proven expertise in the UK energy markets, specialising in renewables, PPAs (+ CPPAs/Financial PPAs), CRM, sales reporting and forecasting tools
- Leadership skills: clear communication; collaboration; adaptability; resilience
- Relationship-led sales, commercial thinking, negotiation strength, strategic planning, consistent delivery
- A commitment to a supportive, high-performance culture
