About the Role
We are seeking a commercially minded Business Development Manager to join our Licensing team on a maternity cover contract.
Working with one of the world's most prestigious newsreel archives, documenting twentieth-century history through an unparalleled moving image collection, you will be responsible for managing licensing activity and driving commercial growth across the Americas, Germany, Eastern Europe and Australasia.
This is a varied role combining business development, account management and content licensing. You will inherit an established portfolio of international clients while identifying new commercial opportunities across your territories. You will play a key role in helping broadcasters, production companies, streaming platforms and corporations access our archive to tell compelling stories.
As part of a small, collaborative team, the successful candidate will be comfortable balancing strategic relationship management with the day-to-day delivery of licensing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of licensing and business development activity across the Americas, Germany, Eastern Europe and Australasia.
- Manage relationships with an established portfolio of key international clients, ensuring excellent customer service and identifying opportunities for repeat business and revenue growth.
- Proactively identify, develop and secure new licensing opportunities within assigned territories.
- Respond to client enquiries, prepare quotations and negotiate archive footage licences within established pricing frameworks, applying commercial judgement where appropriate.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline using Salesforce, ensuring opportunities, forecasts and client activity are accurately recorded.
- Deliver against quarterly commission-based revenue targets.
- Represent the archive at key international industry events and markets, including Berlinale, DOK.fest München and FootageFest, promoting the collection and building relationships with new and existing clients.
- Contribute to the continued growth and international profile of the archive through a proactive, collaborative and commercially focused approach.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
