ROLE OVERVIEW
Job Title: Business Development Manager - Medical Devices
Job Type: Permanent
Location: UK Remote - Travelling will be involved within UK & Ireland
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: from £65,000 basic plus Sales Bonus & Commission
Industry: Business Assurance - Medical Division
The purpose of this role is to drive profitable growth across SGS UK's Medical Device Certification portfolio by leveraging extensive Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry expertise and specialist knowledge of the medical device sector. The successful candidate will identify, develop and secure high-value business opportunities with new, existing and dormant customers, contributing to the continued expansion of SGS's market presence.

Working as a trusted commercial manager you will position SGS as the partner of choice for certification and regulatory compliance services, including EU MDR, EU IVDR, UKCA/UK MDR, ISO 13485 and MDSAP.
- Ensure all opportunities are qualified, developed and progressed in line with technical capability, regulatory requirements, commercial objectives and the UK Responsible Sales & Marketing Policy.
- Collaborate closely with technical, operational, marketing and commercial teams to deliver a seamless customer experience, strengthen strategic relationships and achieve sustainable revenue growth.
This is primarily a home-based position with regular travel to the SGS Oldbury office, customer sites, industry events, partner meetings and other SGS locations across the UK and internationally, as business needs require.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has experience in significant business development or strategic sales experience within the TIC, certification, regulatory compliance and medical device industry, with a proven track record of winning new business.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Demonstrable knowledge of the Medical Device and IVD sector, including the role of certification, conformity assessment and quality management systems.
- Time served in a target-driven sales or business development role, with evidence of delivering against revenue and activity objectives.
- Full clean driving licence for use in the UK.
- Relevant medical device, regulatory affairs, quality management, ISO 13485, MDR, IVDR, MDSAP, UKCA or TIC sector training.
- Professional sales, account management or negotiation training.
