At Convergence Group
At Convergence Group, we’ve spent 20+ years powering some of the UK’s most complex networks - and we’re growing fast. We’re looking for a Business Development Manager who knows how to find opportunities, build relationships and turn them into revenue. And there’s plenty to go after. You’ll have access to 1,500+ existing customer accounts, many of which only use part of what we offer.
Your job? Find the gaps, uncover the opportunities and show customers how much more we can do for them across WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi and Security. Alongside growing our existing customer base, you’ll build your own pipeline and progressively take on more new-logo acquisition. If you’re commercially driven, naturally curious and enjoy the thrill of winning business, this could be a great fit.
What It’s Really Like Here
The pace and intensity are higher than most environments in our sector. The workload is typically around 30% greater than many people will have experienced elsewhere - not because we are chaotic, but because we are ambitious and constantly building. We grow organically and through acquisition, continuously integrating, improving and raising the bar. The landscape evolves, priorities shift, and expectations rise. If you prefer a predictable, static environment, this probably won’t feel comfortable. If you are energised by growth, movement and high standards, it can be deeply rewarding.
Your strengths will have a bigger platform here - and you will be stretched behaviourally more than in most environments. We value respectful honesty: anyone can challenge an idea; hierarchy doesn’t protect thinking and getting it right matters more than being right. Ego doesn’t perform well here; curiosity, learning and ownership do. We hire people who are already strong at their craft - the stretch at Convergence Group is navigating pace, complexity and constant evolution. This environment isn’t for everyone, but for the right person it offers an exceptional opportunity for impact, growth and accelerated development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You’ll Do As Our Business Development Manager
You’ll be responsible for driving growth across both existing accounts and new business.
That means:
- Find the whitespace - analyse customer accounts, identify portfolio gaps and uncover cross-sell and upsell opportunities
- Build relationships - engage decision-makers, understand their challenges and priorities, and build trusted relationships that lead to long-term partnerships

- Win new business - develop target-account plans, prospect effectively and close new logos
- Deliver revenue - achieve account-growth, new-business, revenue and gross-margin targets
- Own your pipeline - keep CRM records accurate, manage opportunities properly and maintain forecast accuracy
- Collaborate - work closely with Account Management, Marketing, Solution Architecture, Product and Commercial teams to win the right business. You’ll have plenty of autonomy, but you’ll also have a strong team around you.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years’ B2B business development or new-business sales experience, with at least 2 years selling complex Managed WAN & LAN solutions
- Experience working within an MSP environment, ideally with technologies from vendors such as Cisco and Extreme
- A proven track record of cross-selling and upselling existing customers, as well as winning new logos
- Strong prospecting, networking and senior stakeholder engagement skills with a consultative, outcome-focused approach to selling. A professional sales qualification or recognised methodology such as MEDDICC, SPIN or Challenger would be beneficial
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate customer challenges into technical solutions
- A solid understanding of LAN, WAN and WLAN
- Experience using CRM systems such as Zoho, with disciplined pipeline and opportunity management
- Strong negotiation, discovery and closing skills and the commercial drive to hit targets without sacrificing customer relationships
