Position Purpose

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with introducers, generating a consistent flow of quality applications, and supporting applicants through the initial stages of the funding journey.

The role combines relationship management, business development, sales, and application support, with a focus on growing introducer performance, identifying new funding opportunities, and ensuring applications are progressed efficiently and accurately.

The Business Development Manager will work closely with introducers, applicants, and internal teams to promote the products and services offered by Fleximize. They will be responsible for gathering, verifying, and collating the information required to progress applications, while maintaining a high standard of service and communication throughout the process.

Policy

  • Ensure all activities are carried out in a competent and compliant manner, in line with internal policies, data protection requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of introducer and applicant interactions, application information, and supporting documentation, ensuring appropriate audit trails are maintained.
  • Represent Fleximize professionally at all times and ensure introducers and applicants receive a consistently high standard of service.
  • Identify and escalate any risks, concerns, application issues, or compliance matters to the appropriate manager or senior team member where necessary.

Introducer Relationship Management

  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with introducers, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring regular communication is maintained.
  • Proactively engage with introducers to understand their business, pipeline, and customer requirements, while promoting the products and services available through Fleximize.
  • Maintain regular contact with introducers regarding changes to lending criteria, products, processes, and terms, ensuring they have the information required to submit suitable opportunities.
  • Develop introducer relationships with the aim of increasing engagement, strengthening partnerships, and generating a consistent flow of quality applications.
  • Monitor introducer performance and activity, identifying opportunities to increase application volumes and improve overall account performance.

Business Development & Opportunity Generation

  • Proactively identify opportunities to generate new applications and increase business from existing introducer relationships.
  • Contact introducers and applicants to follow up on enquiries, potential opportunities, and outstanding applications.
  • Engage in commercial conversations with introducers to understand their requirements, identify potential funding opportunities, and promote appropriate Fleximize products and services.
  • Work towards agreed monthly targets, maintaining a strong and consistent application pipeline and contributing to wider team and business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to develop existing introducer accounts and support the onboarding and development of new introducer relationships where appropriate.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the wider business finance market, including competitor products, lending criteria, and market positioning, to confidently communicate the strengths of Fleximize’s offering and identify where its products are most suitable for introducers and applicants.

Application Management & Support

  • Support introducers and applicants through the initial stages of the application process, ensuring they understand the information and documentation required.
  • Follow up with introducers and applicants to obtain outstanding information, verify application details, and progress opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Gather, review, and collate relevant application information and supporting documentation to enable the completion and submission of full applications.
  • Carry out appropriate administrative and initial application tasks, including packaging documents and completing initial credit checks where required.
  • Ensure all application information is recorded accurately on internal systems and communicated promptly to relevant teams.

Customer & Introducer Experience

  • Provide a professional, responsive, and helpful service to both introducers and applicants throughout all interactions.
  • Maintain clear and regular communication, ensuring expectations are managed appropriately and relevant parties are kept informed of application progress.
  • Work to resolve queries or issues within the remit of the role and escalate appropriately where further support or decision-making is required.
  • Build trust and credibility with introducers and applicants by providing accurate information, responding promptly, and maintaining a consistent level of service.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with Support, underwriting, compliance, and other internal teams to ensure applications progress smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provide colleagues with clear, accurate, and complete information to support effective application assessment and processing.
  • Liaise with other Business Development Managers and internal stakeholders where necessary to resolve potential issues and support introducer relationships.
  • Share relevant introducer feedback, market insight, and customer information where this can support decision-making, service improvements, or future business development activity.

External Meetings & Events

  • Regular face-to-face engagement with introducers is a key requirement of the Business Development Manager role. The successful candidate will be expected to travel to introducer meetings, networking opportunities, and relevant external events to develop relationships, review performance, and generate new business opportunities.
  • The expectation is that the Business Development Manager will spend time out of the office meeting introducers at least once per week, with additional travel required in line with business needs, introducer activity, and commercial opportunities.
  • Travel may involve driving to meetings across different locations, and as such, the role requires the successful candidate to hold a full valid driving licence and be able to travel independently as required.
  • The Business Development Manager will be responsible for planning and managing their external meeting activity effectively, ensuring appropriate preparation is completed in advance and that all agreed actions, follow-ups, and opportunities are progressed promptly following each meeting.
  • Attend relevant industry events, networking opportunities, and other external meetings where these are considered beneficial to the development of introducer relationships and the wider business.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Performance in this role will be measured by the ability to develop productive introducer relationships, generate a consistent flow of quality applications, and convert those opportunities into funded business that contributes towards the agreed monthly deployment target.
  • Measures may include application volumes, funded business, revenue contribution, introducer performance, conversion levels, and achievement of agreed monthly targets.
  • External engagement will also form an important part of performance expectations. The Business Development Manager will be expected to maintain a consistent programme of face-to-face introducer engagement, with an expectation of being out of the office for introducer meetings or relevant business activity a minimum of once per week, and more frequently where required by the needs of the business.
  • Additional measures will include the quality and accuracy of applications, responsiveness to introducers and applicants, maintenance of CRM and application records, relationship development activity, completion of agreed actions following external meetings, and contribution to wider team objectives.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will be a confident and professional communicator with the ability to build strong, credible relationships with introducers, applicants, and internal stakeholders.
  • The candidate must have at least one year of sales experience.
  • They will be commercially minded, proactive, and comfortable working within a target-driven environment, with a clear focus on developing introducer relationships, generating new opportunities, and contributing to the achievement of team and business objectives.
  • They will be self-motivated, ambitious, and well organised, with the ability to manage multiple introducer relationships, applications, and follow-up activities at the same time while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and customer service.
  • Strong relationship management skills are essential, together with the confidence to hold effective commercial conversations, identify opportunities for growth, and maintain regular engagement with introducers.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across different teams. They will be adaptable, resilient, and able to respond positively to changing priorities and business requirements.
  • They will have good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft systems and internal CRM platforms, together with a good standard of Maths and English. They will be comfortable maintaining accurate records, working with numerical information, and managing a varied workload effectively.
  • Regular travel is an essential part of the role. The successful candidate will be expected to attend introducer meetings, networking opportunities, and external events, with a minimum expectation of being out of the office once per week and more frequently where required by the needs of the business.
  • A full valid driving licence and the ability to travel independently for business purposes are therefore essential requirements for the role.
