About the Role
The Position
We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to join the European Client Group, and to lead the firm’s business development activities with Institutional & Wealth prospects and clients in the Netherlands. This individual will play an important strategic role in driving growth across Wellington’s full product suite with pension funds, public institutions, wealth intermediaries, and insurance companies in the market. The role will either be situated in the Netherlands, or in London, or in another Wellington European hub.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing the firm’s sales strategy with Institutional, Wealth and Consultant prospects and clients in the Netherlands;
- Driving growth across the firm’s range of investment strategies, in line with business priorities;
- Developing successful long term relationship with strategic partners, in partnership with Relationship Management colleagues;
- Contributing to the development of wider industry relationships;
- Partnering closely with Marketing and PR colleagues to ensure that local marketing and sales strategies are closely aligned, and contributing to the continued growth in brand awareness;
- Providing guidance and direction to Relationship Analysts;
- Ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is likely to:
- Have 10+ years of relevant industry experience, including experience of leading Institutional sales activities in the Dutch market;
- Have a demonstrable track record of successfully developing and managing a network of Institutional & Wealth client relationships;
- Have a comprehensive understanding of competitors, products, key market trends, and industry developments;
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of financial markets and investment strategies, and an ability to influence through a content-led, consultative sales approach;
- Be action orientated, accountable, committed, driven and self-motivated, with excellent communication and team working skills;
- Have the ability to prioritise, focus, eliminate roadblocks and execute a sales strategy in a timely manner;
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust, and a client centric focus;
- Have a strong academic background, including an undergraduate degree. A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA) would be viewed favourably;
- Be fluent in English and Dutch.

At Wellington Management, our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent in our industry. We strive to pay employees fairly and competitively across all levels and roles. Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
EUR 85,000-175,000
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.
Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
