Location: Field Based – South & South West England (Reporting to Ipswich Office)

About Distag QCS

Distag QCS is a rapidly growing distributor and manufacturer of engineering components, supplying customers throughout the UK and Ireland. We are seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our OEM Sales Team.

This exciting role will focus on developing new business opportunities and growing key relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across multiple industries. Working closely with our Product Line Managers and Internal Sales Team, you will help customers identify innovative solutions across our Mechanical Power Transmission, Hydraulics, Agricultural Components and Bespoke Manufacturing product ranges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make regular face-to-face visits and telephone/video calls to existing and prospective OEM customers.
  • Research and identify new OEM opportunities across target manufacturing sectors.
  • Develop relationships with engineering, procurement, operations and senior management teams.
  • Assess customer requirements and recommend suitable products and solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for bespoke product development and outsourced manufacturing solutions.
  • Work alongside Group Product Line Managers to provide customers with technical and commercial support.
  • Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through quotation, negotiation and implementation.
  • Ensure accurate recording of customer visits, opportunities and project updates within the ERP/CRM system.
  • Monitor market activity and competitor developments and provide feedback to management.
  • Promote the Distag Group brand and capabilities through customer engagement and professional networking platforms such as LinkedIn.

On a Project Basis

  • Develop and implement a strategic OEM growth plan for the territory.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of new OEM projects and opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to secure Distag products into OEM designs and specifications.
  • Analyse sales performance and identify opportunities for growth within existing accounts.
  • Conduct gap analysis to identify products and services not currently supplied to customers.
  • Support new product introductions and product development activities where required.
  • Work with Internal Sales and Product Line Managers to ensure successful implementation of new projects and contracts.

Other Responsibilities

  • Support exhibitions, trade shows and customer events.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider sales team to identify opportunities across both OEM and Aftermarket sectors.
  • Assist management with strategic sales initiatives and business projects as required.
  • Support customers with product performance issues and coordinate investigations with suppliers where necessary.

Experience

  • Proven experience in business development, technical sales or account management.
  • Experience selling to OEMs or manufacturing businesses.
  • Experience within power transmission, hydraulics, agricultural components or industrial engineering products.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings and technical requirements.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Commercially aware, self-motivated and results driven.
  • Comfortable travelling throughout the UK and staying away when required.
  • Full UK driving licence.
