About The Opportunity
The renewable energy market is growing rapidly, creating significant opportunities across both residential and commercial construction. To support this growth, our client—a leading distributor of building materials, construction products and renewable energy solutions—is looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to lead the development of their Solar PV offering across the Midlands.
This is a strategic field sales role focused on generating new business, developing key customer relationships and increasing market share. You’ll work with an established product portfolio, a recognised brand and an experienced technical team, giving you everything you need to build a successful territory.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for promoting Solar PV systems and renewable energy solutions to a broad range of customers throughout the Midlands.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Developing new business opportunities across your territory.
- Growing sales within existing customer accounts.
- Building relationships with solar installers, roofing contractors, electrical contractors, builders’ merchants, developers and housebuilders.
- Engaging with Local Authorities, Housing Associations and main contractors on renewable energy projects.
- Identifying specification opportunities and supporting projects from enquiry through to completion.
- Preparing commercial proposals and delivering product presentations.
- Working closely with branch teams, technical specialists and product managers to maximise opportunities.
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and changes within the renewable energy sector.
- Delivering sales growth in line with agreed objectives and business targets.

About You
We’re interested in speaking with ambitious sales professionals who have a proven ability to develop business, build relationships and identify commercial opportunities.

Experience within Solar PV would be ideal, however we would also welcome applications from candidates selling:
- Renewable energy products
- Roofing products
- Electrical products

- Construction products
- Technical construction solutions
- Battery storage systems
You’ll be commercially minded, highly organised and comfortable working independently across a large geographical territory.

You’ll Also Be Able To Demonstrate
- Success in business development, account management or technical sales.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation ability.
- A proactive approach to winning new business and developing existing accounts.
- A genuine interest in renewable energy and sustainable construction.
