Business Development Manager (Payments)
Our client is looking for a Business Development Manager.
Role Overview
As a Business Development Manager in the payments industry, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth through strategic sales and relationship management. You will leverage your in-depth knowledge of the payment landscape to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners. Ultimately, you will report directly to the Payments Director and work together to ensure the targets and KPIs set by the organisation are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and executing effective business strategies to drive growth;
- Leading and maintaining the onboarding process of payment processing partners;
- Managing partner relationships (banks, payment service providers, payment systems, merchants within territories);
- Creating tasks and following the process of execution and performing;
- Actively participating in suggestions and ideas for improving the payment channels;
- Performing market research and industry analysis (pricing & commercial terms analysis, preparing materials for discussion/ presentations);
- Managing relationships with providers – providing product updates, learning about new offerings;
- Working with the developers, designers, and customer service team to solve the tasks that meet the expected outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of successful sales/account management experience in the payments industry;
- Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret data related to sales performance and market dynamics;
- Strong understanding of the payments landscape, including card networks, mobile payments, e-wallets, payment processing technology, and regulatory considerations;
- Familiarity with emerging trends in the payments industry, such as cryptocurrency, digital wallets, and blockchain technology;
- Experience in negotiating commercial contracts;
- Strong aptitude for structured problem-solving and quantitative skills;
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain partnerships with clients and stakeholders;
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing – in English. Fluent English is a must;
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements affecting the payments industry, such as PCI DSS and GDPR;
- Familiarity with CRM software and sales analytics tools to track progress and sales activities;
- Travel Availability: Willingness to travel for client meetings, conferences, and industry events as needed;
- Network: A strong professional network within the payments and financial services industry can be advantageous.
