Our PPM Power division is looking for a proactive Business Development Manager to accelerate our sales growth across the UK. In this role, you will champion our range of power electronics, building long-term strategic relationships and unlocking key revenue streams. Offering a balanced mix of office and home working alongside targeted international travel (around 2–4 weeks per year), this position gives you the autonomy to shape our UK market presence and drive real commercial impact.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & grow existing accounts - account manage & develop existing accounts to find and win new sales opportunities for PPM Power product
  • Drive new business - proactively identify, nurture & develop new customers using targeted proactive sales efforts. Also work to convert and develop any incoming leads
  • Develop strong relationships – engage with customers, prospects and suppliers to build lasting relationships and uncover cross-sell/up-sell opportunities
  • Own the whole sales cycle – take ownership of customers, managing opportunities from first contact to close, ensuring all processes run smoothly and taking accountability for the customer experience. Using the CRM system to manage communications
  • Stay ahead of the market – in line with overall strategy, look for opportunities to take advantage of industry trends and competitor activity. Visit trade shows and identify opportunities for PPM Power to exhibit. Propose potential new principal suppliers where you feel there is an opportunity
  • Strive for growth - responsible for planning and measuring financial performance of owned accounts and accountable for their performance
  • Sales administration – utilising all tools provided, including CRM. Preparation of quotes, including costing and pricing decisions. Produce annual sales forecasts. Contract and proposal writing
  • Be an expert – as per overall strategy, requirement to be a technical authority for some key PPM Principals. To support the wider team with this expertise
  • Be a role model – help to develop younger members of the sales team by sharing your time and experience

Skills and experience

  • Knowledge of power electronics – power semiconductors (SiC/GaN), power components and broader power products and technologies
  • Able to communicate effectively internally and externally
  • Experience selling into the Defence, Aerospace and Automotive markets is advantageous
  • Experience working in winning competitive design-in opportunities for high value components
  • Presentation skills
  • High energy & self-motivation – self driven and a proactive mindset
  • Flexible and highly motivated with a “hands on” approach
  • Able to prioritise and set clear strategy towards divisional sales goals
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills, applicable to all stages of the sales process
  • Proficient at using relevant software packages
  • Credible and relationship-focused – able to build rapport and foster trust with customers, prospects and partners

Qualifications

  • Technical - degree, or equivalent in relevant technical subject, or relevant professional experience
  • Successful salesperson – track record of sustained growth, proactive opportunity identification and account development
  • Experienced in design-in component sales into high-performance sectors – Defence, Aerospace, Automotive
  • Experience in power electronics and semiconductor sales highly desirable
  • Demonstrate achievements in technology product sales
  • Experience of dealing with customers and a network of principal suppliers
  • History of winning and of growing sales territories
  • Sales experience of a relevant product/market sector
