Job Purpose

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving the sales strategy and growth for our bridging and development lending division. You will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of new and existing clients, building strong relationships with brokers, developers, and other financial intermediaries, and delivering against sales targets. Your expertise in financial products and understanding of the property development and lending landscape will be critical in providing tailored solutions to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive new business acquisition and expand the client base for bridging and development lending.
  • Identify, target, and establish relationships with new property developers, brokers, and financial intermediaries.
  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities and ensure the timely conversion of leads into clients.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Provide expert advice on bridging finance and development lending solutions, tailoring offers to meet the specific needs of clients.
  • Engage with clients to understand their long-term business goals and provide suitable financial products.

Sales Targets & Performance

  • Drive sales performance by meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales activity, performance, and forecasts for senior management.
  • Collaborate with the underwriting and credit teams to ensure the successful closure of deals.

Marketing & Networking

  • Represent Shelley Lending at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to support campaigns, promotional materials, and product initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with other departments, including underwriting, operations, and legal, to ensure smooth delivery of lending solutions to clients.
  • Provide feedback to senior management regarding client needs, product offerings, and potential improvements.

Skills & Experience

Experience

  • Proven track record of sales success within the bridging finance or development lending industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the property development sector and an understanding of finance products, particularly short-term lending solutions.
  • Experience in managing client relationships, identifying sales opportunities, and negotiating deals.

Qualifications

  • A background in finance, business, or property-related qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and sales management tools.

Desirable

  • Existing relationships with property developers, brokers, and other key players in the bridging and development lending market.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in lending practices.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A passion for the property finance sector and helping clients achieve their financial objectives.

Salary

  • £35-45k pa base salary (depending on experience) plus attractive commission on all introduced/completed deals. OTE in excess of £100k.
