Company Description

Mechanical Installation Solutions Ltd (M‑I‑S) is a specialist mechanical services contractor delivering reactive and planned maintenance across a wide range of industrial systems. The team works with equipment such as industrial fans, pumps, motors, pipework, valves, insulation, AHUs, plate heat exchangers, boilers, duct-mounted coils, and ventilation systems. M‑I‑S focuses on providing practical, cost-effective solutions tailored to each client’s operational needs. The company emphasizes innovation to reduce cost and downtime while improving safety and minimizing workplace incidents. Role Description

The Business Development Manager role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Hatfield. The person in this role will identify and qualify new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships with clients, and develop strategies to grow sales in mechanical maintenance and services.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Prospecting
  • Attending client meetings
  • Preparing proposals and quotations
  • Following up on leads to convert them into long-term contracts

The role also involves:

  • Collaborating with technical and operations teams to align service offerings with client needs
  • Monitoring market trends
  • Contributing to pricing and tender submissions

The Business Development Manager will also:

  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines
  • Report on performance
  • Represent M‑I‑S at industry events and networking opportunities

Qualifications

  • Strong business development, sales, and account management skills, with a track record of generating and closing new opportunities.
  • Experience in the mechanical services, HVAC, or industrial maintenance sector, with ability to understand equipment such as pumps, fans, pipework, and ventilation systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to build trust-based relationships at multiple stakeholder levels.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills, including market research, pipeline management, and development of growth plans.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills, with proficiency in CRM systems and standard office software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and operations teams and to translate client needs into service solutions.
  • Comfort working on-site in Hatfield and visiting client sites as required.
