Business Development Manager

£40,000 - £50,000 DOE + commission + company car

Hybrid/field-based with regular UK travel – West Midlands Office

Company Overview

A growing specialist provider of safety products and solutions is expanding its commercial team due to increased demand across the construction and plant sectors.

The business supplies safety-critical technology to major contractors, plant-hire companies, fleet operators, OEMs, and industrial customers.

Job Overview

The Business Development Manager will focus on generating new business, opening target accounts, and building a qualified sales pipeline. Working alongside technical sales, marketing, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will progress opportunities from initial approach through to meetings, demonstrations, proposals, and commercial handover. Success will be measured by new customer acquisition, pipeline growth, and sales order value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage new customers across construction, plant hire, quarrying, aggregates, waste and recycling, demolition, agriculture, manufacturing, warehousing, ports, and transport.
  • Target main contractors, subcontractors, plant operators, asset owners, machinery dealers, OEMs, and commercial fleet operators.
  • Generate opportunities through outbound calls, email, networking, referrals, site engagement, and industry events.
  • Secure qualified customer meetings, site visits, and product demonstrations.
  • Understand customers’ operational risks and recommend suitable vehicle safety or telematics solutions.
  • Develop opportunities through presentations, quotations, proposals, and commercial discussions.
  • Respond to inbound plant enquiries and qualify their commercial potential.
  • Build and maintain an accurate new-business pipeline within the CRM.
  • Work with technical and operational teams to ensure effective opportunity conversion and handover.
  • Provide feedback on customer activity, market trends, and competitor developments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
