Business Development Manager – Retail & Marketplace (UK & Ireland)
Location: West Yorkshire / field-based (commutable to the Batley & Dewsbury area for office days)
Salary: Up to £55,000 basic + bonus + [car/allowance and benefits]
The company
Our client is an established UK home furnishings business with an eight-figure turnover. They supply some of the UK's best-known retailers and sell across a growing number of online marketplaces. Because of continued growth, they're adding to their sales team.
The role
You'll grow sales with national and independent furniture and home retailers, and with retailers that run online marketplaces, such as department stores, catalogue retailers and DIY chains. You'll cover the UK and Ireland, winning new accounts and developing existing ones.

The client is open to splitting this into two roles (UK and Ireland) for the right candidates. If your strength is one market, we'd still like to hear from you.
What you'll do
- Win new retail and marketplace accounts across the UK and Ireland
- Manage and grow existing customers, including range reviews, pricing and promotions
- Build relationships with buyers and marketplace category managers
- Spot new channels and partners to bring the range to more customers
- Work closely with the office team on forecasting, stock and account performance

What you'll need
- A track record of selling to retail buyers, ideally in furniture, homewares or other big-ticket consumer products
- Experience with online marketplaces (third-party seller or vendor models) is a big plus
- An existing network of buyer contacts in UK and/or Irish retail
- Comfortable both hunting new business and managing key accounts
