Referment is working with a financial technology business providing investment platform services, model portfolios and financial planning software to financial advisers. Its products support advisers in managing clients' financial plans and investments, including retirement planning.
Business Development Manager
As Business Development Manager, you'll cover the Scotland & Northern Ireland territory within the Growth team, reporting to the Head of Sales. The role combines winning new adviser relationships with supporting existing firms across portfolio and platform products. You'll manage the sales process from initial opportunity through to securing new business, while developing a regional approach to achieving targets.
You'll work with Business Development Consultants and a dedicated Adviser Success Manager, bringing product expertise to prospect conversations and existing-client relationships. Local events, account development and clear product-level forecasting are all part of the remit.
The Role
- Manage the end-to-end sales process for new clients while supporting existing customers.
- Develop a strategic approach to increasing the business's presence across the territory and achieving regional targets.
- Run local events to engage prospects and build relationships.
- Provide sales reporting and forecasts by product.
- Build detailed expertise in the portfolio and platform propositions so you can explain how they add value to financial adviser firms.
- Ensure your activities comply with all applicable regulations.
- Support Business Development Consultants with advice and expertise.
- Collaborate with your dedicated Adviser Success Manager to deliver a strong service to existing clients and maximise investment inflow potential.

- Sales experience within financial services, including managing large corporate client accounts.
- A target-driven, results-focused approach and a proven record of achieving high-growth targets.
- Commercial judgement and a strategic mindset that you can apply to regional business development.
- Strong market knowledge and the ability to identify new opportunities.
- Expert negotiation and communication skills.
- An analytical approach and close attention to detail.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working for a financial technology business in discretionary fund management is useful, but it is not essential.
